Marián Zavarský

Slovakian composer. He studied composition at the Conservatory in Bratislava, Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and Universität fur Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. He also studied composition in the Czech Republic and Austria.

He is a classically trained, multi-genre composer who focuses on live or pre-composed electroacoustic music for a variety of media such as dance, film, theater as well as autonomous audiovisual projects. His compositions (instrumental/vocal/electronic) have been performed at the most important festivals in Slovakia (Melos-Éthos, NEXT, Nová slovenská hudba, KRAA), as well as abroad (Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Germany, Turkey, Israel, etc.) He collaborates musically with the best Slovak performers of contemporary music, such as M. Bajuszová, A. Gál, Mucha Quartet, M. Lejava and others.

He was a member of several experimental acoustic and electronic groups. Since 2007, he has been cooperating with the Experimental Studio of the Slovak Radio. He teaches artistic music subjects at the Conservatory in Bratislava. He is also the organizer of the Composition Laboratory - an educational platform in Slovakia, which focuses mainly on the field of composition.

His audiovisual performance “Anatomy” celebrates natural processes, the microscopic world, life and the dance of cells with live electroacoustic music. “Anatomy” combines visualizations with quadraphonic electroacoustic music into one concert experience.
