Vincent Raude
French electronics engineer, sound explorer, improviser. From 2001 to 2011 he taught guitar at the Brest Métropole Océane conservatory, also conducting acousmatics lessons and coordinating the Department of Current Amplified Music. This activity at the Brest Conservatory was an opportunity for him to carry out a variety of awareness-raising experiences and cultural activities related to new technologies and contemporary music in schools.
He currently plays solo as Upwellings, moslty playing dub-techno and ambient. His music has been released by such labels as Zeecc, Telrae, Moshitaka, Tiefenrausch and Dimensions Recordings. He performs all over the world, in clubs and at festivals. Since 2010, Vincent has been a member of the Nautilis Ensemble (a large Jazz Ensemble in Brittany), where he has had the opportunity to work with such jazz artists as: Rob Mazurek, Michael Zerang, Matt Bauder, Lou Mallozzi, Hélène Labarrière, Steve Berry, Makaya McCraven, Chad Taylor, Irvin Pierce, Alexandre Pierrepont, Samuel Blaser, Peter Bruun, Josh Abrams, Sophie Agnel, Mazz Swift etc. In 2013 he created the Energie Noire duo with the saxophonist Nicolas Péoc’h.
In 2015, he participated in the formation of the Third Coast Orchestra conducted by Rob Mazurek (a large French-American orchestra integrating members of the Nautilis ensemble and 8 American musicians, including Nicole Mitchell, Jeff Parker, Mazz Swift, Tomek Reid).
Vincent Raude composes music for contemporary dance ensembles, for the Décalé Company, Tango Sumo, Marie-Laure Caradec, Hiatus, MO3, and most of all for Gaël Sesboué of the Lola Gatt Company, with whom he works on five different projects. Vincent Raude also performs solo or in duets with other musicians who share his taste for improvisation and exploration of sound.
