Patryk Rynkiewicz
Patryk Rynkiewicz – Polish jazz trumpeter, composer, and PhD candidate at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, where he researches ethnic influences in trumpet performance techniques. He studied under Arve Henriksen and Maciej Fortuna, developing a unique approach to the instrument.
His playing reflects a deep fascination with the trumpet’s sound world – from quarter tones and extended techniques, through electronic modifiers, to inspirations drawn from ethnic music traditions. He moves freely across jazz, free jazz, experimental, electronic, and world music.
He is the co-leader of Unleashed Cooperation, with whom he received the Special Award of ZAiKS & STOART at Jazz nad Odrą (2020) and 3rd Prize at Jazz Juniors (2021). In 2025, the group performed at jazzahead! in Bremen (Germany) as the only Polish showcase band, with their concert described by DownBeat as:
“Accessible, lyrical and rode on a graceful momentum that was still spontaneous and unpolished (especially when trumpeter Patryk Rynkiewicz put his horn to his lips), yet also a serene note on which to end the proceedings.” (DownBeat)
On a daily basis, he collaborates with Wojciech Waglewski, Zbigniew Hołdys, and the Skalpel Big Band. He regularly performs at major festivals in Poland and abroad, including Męskie Granie, OFF Festival, Pol’and’Rock (Woodstock), Nišville Jazz Festival (Serbia), HR Jazz Festival in Zagreb (Croatia), Cairo Jazz Festival (Egypt), Factory Jazz Festival (North Macedonia), among many others.
