Mižu

Michal “Mižu” Mitro (he/them) is an artist, curator and a researcher working towards transformative, bodily experiencing. Trained in visual and sonic arts as well as social sciences, he translates sociological imagination (after Ch. W. Mills) into crafted sculptural environments that interweave sound, light and electricity. Topics that he gravitates towards explore frictions and alliances between human and other-than-human worlds, often framed in contexts of intricate interweaving between the personal, the societal and the planetary. In their work, Mižu proposes narratives both affirming and disturbing in order to plant seeds of futures we would ourselves like to inhabit.

Besides being an active practitioner, Mižu curates a program at ssesi (safe space for exploring s- ideas) in Brno, Czechia, co-develops artistic research on aquatic and vibrational worlds with Kosmas Phan Dingh and Mae Lubetkin, is a certified electrician, dedicated kombucha brewer and a father of eight year old Mateo.
