Michela Pelusio

Italian artist Michela Pelusio creates audiovisual performances, installations, live kinetic sculptures, and instruments. Her research explores human perception, physical phenomena, visualizations and sounds, art, and science.

She performs and exhibits worldwide in venues such as Bozar Centre of Fine Arts Brussels, the Max-Planck Institute of Astrophysics in Munich, all Mutek festivals around the world, Chroniques Biennale des Imaginaires Numeriques, Gmem Centre National de Création Musicale in Marseille, the TodaysArt festival in The Hague, Electrones Libres at Stereolux in Nantes, Miraikan, National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo, Lexus Hybrid Art Exhibition in Moscow, and many others.

Michela Pelusio is a graduate of the Sculpture Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara and holds a master’s degree in music from the ArtScience Department at the Royal Academy of Art and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Netherlands. Her main teachers were Edwin van der Heide and Joel Ryan.

For three years, she was a teacher at the ArtScience Interfaculty in The Hague, conducting courses on “Synesthetics” with Frans Evers and “Genius Loci” with Robert Pravda and Horst Rickels. Later, she moved to Greece, where for five years she was the founder and curator of ResidenceSEA - Sensing Your Environment by Art, a residency in Crete for international artists fostering dialogue between art and science. She currently resides in Athens, Greece.
