Malwina Paszek

Malwina Paszek – an ethnic multi-instrumentalist (hurdy-gurdy, accordion, zithers, piano, Slovak fujara, frame drum and others) and singer. She performs traditional songs mainly from her native Wielkopolska region, as well as from Ukraine, Belarus, and eastern Poland. She composes music for theatre (CIcha!, Rayuela, Obrazobranie, Nosotros Ellos, Prawdziwy Polak Nie Żyje), radio plays, silent films (Kwartet Bedebede & Purandare), and animations.

She worked as a music consultant for Marek Lechki’s film Interior. She is a member of the ensembles Druhny and Piekielnica. In 2011 she graduated from the Academy of Music in Poznań (Music Theory). She is currently studying composition at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk.

Her greatest passion is the hurdy-gurdy. She performs contemporary, traditional, and baroque music on the instrument. She is the author of numerous artistic projects, including: Projekt Synestetycy at CK Zamek in Poznań (an audiovisual project inspired by the phenomenon of synaesthesia, 2012), Projekt Jestem z Doliny Bobru (2018, 2019, singing workshops and concert), Projekt Przychodnia Terapii Śpiewem (a series of workshops in Krotoszyn exploring the therapeutic role of singing, 2018), Dominodźwięki (composition workshops for children at the Poznańska Wiosna Muzyczna festival, co-led with dancer Paulina Wycichowska, 2019), Kosmiczna Muzyka (composition workshops for people with disabilities, 2019), SztukStyk (multidisciplinary project, composition, 2020), Wiersze dla dzieci i młodzieży (multidisciplinary project for the Centrum Sztuki Dziecka in Poznań, composition, 2020), (Nie)poważna muzyka – composition workshops for people with disabilities (2020), and Warsztaty ALEA – a series of films for a music composition app created in cooperation with the Poznańska Wiosna Muzyczna festival. As a composer and arranger, she was responsible for the music and choir direction for the project Wesele Wielkopolskie (final concert of the Malta Festival 2022).

She has repeatedly carried out artistic projects, workshops, and concerts as part of Projekt Off Opera and Projekt 5 Zmysłów. She collaborates with contemporary music composers and has performed at folk and classical music festivals including: Nowa Tradycja, Kody, Malta, Bliscy Nieznajomi, Fama, Rozstaje, Ethno Port, Poznańska Wiosna Muzyczna, TrillMe, Mikołajki Folkowe, Lyriktreffen Münster.
