Mariska de Groot
Intrigued by the phenomenon and history of optical sound, Mariska de Groot (1982, The Netherlands) creates, performs and composes for complex analog instruments and light-sound installations that explore this principle in a new way.
Her works often refer to past media inventions, with which she tries to evoke multi-sensory and phenomenological experience in light, sound, movement and space. Mariska received a BA in Graphic Design from Arnhem (2000-2005) and an MA in ArtScience in 2012. In 2009/2010, Mariska received a Startstipendium from Fonds BKVB. In 2012, she won the BNG Workspace12 Project Prize, in 2014 the O68 for German-Dutch artists, and in 2016 she received the Creatives Industries Talent grant for development.
